About Me

Having worked for over 35 years in a large number of Music Services across the country, I have now returned to my home in glorious Shropshire to set up a free-lance career of teaching, performing, education workshops and instrument repair.

Since leaving Trinity College of Music, London as a graduate in 1976, I have played professionally, home and abroad, as a trumpet player in orchestral, theatre and big band genres and  taught brass instruments at all levels. I have devised, developed and delivered music workshops in schools at KS1 & KS2 and whole class teaching (wider opportunities) packages at KS2 and been involved in management of Music Services.

Recently  I have been studying with Trevor Head on his world-famous Brass Instrument Repair Course in the lovely surroundings of Llangunllo in mid Wales. My wife, Ruth, is the proprietor of SevernWindWorks in Shrewsbury and I plan to develop the brass repair side of the business.

Having spent over 35 years working with children and young people, I am keen to maintain links with schools, either in a brass teaching capacity, curriculum workshop situation or live music presentation.

Working full-time in music services does take a lot of your evenings and weekends, so now I am free-lance again, I intend to make use of the time and have more opportunities to perform on the trumpet. I am developing some live music presentations to be delivered to schools and community groups. Why should young people have all the fun, what about the adults!!
